The 3DSOM STORY

From SOM to 3DSOM

WHERE DOES 3DSOM COME FROM?

3D Software Object Modeller (3DSOM) is the work of Computer Vision Scientist Dr. Adam Baumberg. Over the last ten years Adam and his team have continued to increase the accuracy and functionality of the product.

The technology behind 3DSOM started out as a research project at Canon Research Europe in the UK. Today 3DSOM is used all over the world from Christie’s capturing Degas statues to Nike and Clarks capturing shoes.

Originally focusing on practical 3D capture using a simple consumer camera and no specialist hardware, the team have extended the technology to work with a standard office projector with the option to use more automated high-end photographic systems.

3D capture for all hardware budgets is now the focus. Soon you will be able to process photos captured from you mobile phone to produce a 3DSOM model.
